This is a nice dycotomy of images, a red and black sea urchin side by side. Guess which one will sting you? your right the black one, the red one, called the slate pencil urchin has a red dye on its spines and is reputed to have been used as make-up by Hawaiian woman before modern times. So the Hawaiian name is the same for all the Urchins, Wana (Vah-nuh).
