This long thin fish is easily distinguished by the long wire thin trailing piece behind its tail fin. Other characteristics that make it different from trumpet fish or needlefish, are its cross section, which is bulging out and its color, a slivery green with slightly darker spots if you get the light just right. You see these fish near the bottom mostly just hanging out a few feet off the coral or sand. They can be found single or in schools, usually the schools are smaller fish and the singles are large.
