Large schools of this fish abound around reefy points in Makena, Maui. They are easy to distinguish from other butterlyfish because of the small black dots on the yellow body. They get to be about 6 inches long and feed on coral. Makena, Maui.

I have always found this fish in a pair, like other butterlfyfish, they pair up for life. For some reason this type of butterflyfish is rare. If you know where a couple live though you can always find them in the same place. I got this photo at Maluaka Point.
